Nickolas Barba Izurieta is an Ecuadorian immigrant pursuing his PhD in the Department of Spanish in Portuguese in the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He received his B.A in Spanish from the University of California, Davis and taught High School Spanish for three years prior to joining UCLA. His academic research focuses on dystopias found in Ecuadorian science fiction. Nickolas’ favorite authors are Charles Bukowski, Pablo Neruda, Julio Cortázar, George Orwell, and Douglas Adams.
Outside of the literary world, Nickolas loves watching movies and tv shows, playing chess, practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and playing soccer. He is currently looking for people that are obsessed with the show “Severance” just as much as he is.

Juan Manuel Díaz Leguizamón is a philosopher and historian from Bogotá, Colombia, and a Ph.D. student in Hispanic Literatures and Cultures at UCLA. He specializes in the study of the ethical, political, and epistemological dimension of the arts and literature as instruments of resistance and change, in relation to violence and social justice.
He is currently researching contemporary Latin American cultural production in the field of narco-narrative. He is also an amateur musician.

Camila Lee is a PhD student at UCLA. She was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where her parents immigrated from Korea at a very young age. From her diverse and multicultural background, she grew an interest in literature across the different continents that somehow formed her. Some of her favorite authors are Alejandro Zambra, Sally Rooney, Choi EunYoung, and Alejandra Kamiya. Influenced by her parents who are readers, her dream was to become a writer or do a job that requires a lot of reading.
Párrafo gave her an opportunity to become an even more diverse reader – open to literature, photography, short films, paintings, and art in general. Through this magazine, she is excited to dive into the art world and share with the world itself the hidden talent of the many writers and artists across the country and continent.

Isaque de Moura is a Brazilian writer and a PhD student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California, Los Angeles. He holds an MA in Hispanic Language and Literature from Boston University (2024) and a BA in Political Science from the Federal University of Piaui (Brazil). His academic research focuses on the analysis of fictional spaces of asylums, hospices, and mental health units in Cuban and Brazilian literature. Some of Isaque’s favorite authors include Graciliano Ramos, Henry Miller, John Fante, Pedro Juan Gutierrez, and Michel Houellebecq.
Outside the literary world, Isaque enjoys dancing Brazilian pé-de-serra forró music, discussing radical Freudian psychoanalysis, and losing money on the stock market. He is currently surviving in Los Angeles, CA.

Laura Emilia Araujo is Brazilian PhD student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California, Los Angeles. She has a master in Comparative Literature from the Federal University of Latin American Integration(2023) and a bachelor in English Language and its Literature from the State University of Alagoas- Brazil (2020). She was a Fulbright scholar under the program Foreign Language Teaching Assistant where she taught Portuguese at Yale University (22-23).
She coordinates the Fumagêras Lab, a creative writing laboratory at Arapiraca-Alagoas, Brazil.Laura’s studies aims to analyse the concept of gente-planta in the art work of latin american female artists in order to develop a language teaching material. Her North is the South.
